First Recount Of The Year!!

This week, was our first week of school and our task was to write a recount about our holidays that didn't include boring words. I think that I achieved that goal because Whaea Mary said that a few  parts of my story sounded poetic. Here below is a screencastify of me reading my recount and also my story..... I hope you enjoy!

Adrenaline Park
Fog was in the air, and the morning rays of sunshine were blocking
the beautiful views of the mountains beneath the fluffy white clouds.
Amira, Tanner, Mele and I were fired up and ready to have fun! We
were making our way to Adrenaline Park, because it was Amira’s 13th
birthday. It was our first time going to Adrenaline park so we were all
very excited. Adrenaline Park is located in Whangarei, a little while
after Hikurangi.

You wouldn’t expect such an amusing water park located in such a
deserted place, because on your way to Adrenaline Park, you would
find yourself coming across windy roads and a bunch of abandoned
houses. You wouldn’t believe it, but we had to park our car down a
giant hill and walk to the top to see the whole complex. When we
arrived at the top of the hill, Aunty Claire took care of all of the costs,
whilst Tanner, Amira, Mele and I were getting changed. We all stood
on the bank glancing at the shimmering dark lake with fog floating
right above.

Then all of a sudden, one of the workers interrupted us to tell us all
about the safety rules.  After that, we put our Life jackets on and
rushed to the lake. There were so many activities! There was an on
water obstacle course, a giant inflatable trampoline, Basketball activities,
water skiing, slides, a large 40 metre slide, trampolines, Volley-ball,
Kayaking, Paddle boarding and many more fun activities. We started off
with the Obstacle course, that was very very slippery! It was set out
like a giant square. There was slides, monkey bars, swinging ropes, giant
boxing bags and places that you could climb up to witness million dollar
views of all the many activities.

There was not many people, so the obstacle course was easier to
get through and you could complete the activities faster. There were
also many entries…. An entry at Adrenaline Park was a place to get
back on the course if you fell in the water. As the fog started to lift,
you could get the a full view of the lake glistering away. We all swam
back to shore to collect a kayak. I rowed through the fog, looked back
and realised that it made a cleared pathway as I went through. It looked
majestic. As Amira and Mele followed, we rowed all around the obstacle
course were we found ourselves observing the many fails of the people
having a go on the water skiing. It was hilarious!

We then spotted that there was no one using the basketball area,
so we utilized our time wisely and we nominated basketball to be our
next activity. There were two different coloured basketball and there
was a big wooden connect four activity set out. There were six hoops,
and the hoop that you got the ball in, was the place where you started
to try and get 4 in a row. The game was very interesting. After a while,
we discovered that basketball was getting pretty boring….

A moment later, we saw that Aunty Claire had showed up again,
but this time with lunch. It was K.F.C, even though I don’t like chicken,
I had chips and a drink. Right then, one of the workers came over and
asked us if we wanted to go on the 40 metre slide? We weren’t very
enthusiastic about it, but we agreed to give it a go! We were all anxiously
nervous! And our legs were shaking like jelly because the wind was
unbelievable. Tanner trepidatiously went first. Sike! He wanted to go
first and we were to scared to go first anyways. He said that it wasn’t
scary, so I went and I was terrified… I resisted to tell Amira and Mele
so that they could have found out for themselves. Amira went next,
she got to the corner and flipped off her board. It was crack up,
Aunty Claire even got it on tape. We had a few more turns and then
we headed back over to the main office to get changed, so that we
could go to the Pak n save and get some food for our way home. We
had a great day and night.
