Welcome to suffix land. Nah, Have you ever learned about suffixes?

This week Room 5 has been learning about suffixes and what they are. I learned all about how suffixes work. We had only two afternoons in our class time and we worked on our movie in three of our lunchtimes and playtime's. I liked acting in our movie and recording was easy as well but some of our script lines were hard. My next step is to try and keep the camera still and get something to hold it.

Have you ever learnt about eels bike cycle I mean life cycle.

I am learning to summarise a book that we have been learning.
My next step is to find out all of the main ideas. There was a big main idea that I missed and I know what it is now.

Pacific Paradise.
By Mary Campbell.

Last night I read Pacific Paradise by Mary Campbell. It was mostly about eels life cycle. During the summer their bodies change,Their eye’s enlarge, their head becomes flatter and more slender & their tummy turns gold. They get ready for the migration to the sea. When they get there they spawn which means they get ready to have babies.

My beach holiday. I am learning to try use more speech marks more story and use more punchy sentences.

This is my recount story about the school holidays. I learned how to use short punchy sentences but not properly. I am also learning to add detail to my story and start sentences with adverbs.

My beach holiday.
It was a beautiful spring Friday afternoon when we traveled to Omapere for Nannie Annie's one year. When we got to the gate I could just feel the jolliness pumping through my heart, I was so excited to see my dad's family. I could see the water straight down off the veranda. It was tremendous.

Have you ever felt the waves rushing over your head like the shower water? Well I have and it wasn’t that amazing, what I mean is it was a hot windy day and me Carlos and Dylan were swimming in the waves like little tiny fish, The water at the beach was amazing but it was colder then Antarctica. When I jumped out, it was about five o'clock.

A few minutes later all we could hear was “Kai time” shouted aunty Moana. Carlos my dad Dylan my mum and I all  rushed to the house, there was burgers, fish, boil up and for dessert we had cookies and cream ice cream, chopped peanuts, whipped cream and the amazing chocolate sauce. It was better than anything else in the world, it was like rainbows were melting in my mouth!, it was a dream you could die for.Lovingly It was delicious.

After Kai we talked about what we could do. “Rudely I shouted yep let's play Charades now”. Now it was Dylan’s turn. The first category was Disney princesses, Cinderella, glass shoe, home before twelve o'clock, “CINDERELLA, shouted Dylan. YES”, Snow, white, the queen, white is in her name, “SNOW WHITE, Yes. Time is ticking I respectfully said”. next up  guess the face. “Kevin our group answered in so much laughter yep, next Tehanah, Yep” I was so embarrassed of myself. Next “Moana answered team red answered with cheerfulness building up in their stomachs”, yes correct up next  “Dylan, Yes, Hare,No,Sue,yes”. A couple faces later it was about one o’clock and time for bed. I felt so so weary after the game of guess the face. Merrily I skipped off to my bed.

Happily I really enjoyed my holiday with my dad's family.

These are my not so amazing results for math.

Each term at Tautoro School we sit a basic facts test. We have 2 ½ minutes to answer 50 questions in addition, 50 in subtraction, 50 in multiplication and 50 in division.

Last term I scored a total of 149

My goal for this term was to score 149

I achieved a score of 0

Was I successful yes or no? No
Why? (What helped me, what will I do differently) I will try harder to achieve my goals. And taking more maths homework home will be better.
This link is to my goals.

This is the best best best video and slide show in the world. dont forget to comment.

Read this it will blow you away.

Thursday 15th September 2016.
Kapa haka.

It was an exciting and a spectacular day for me and my class, we were finally performing at Northland College, “YAY” we all chanted, but some of the school were going to Dargaville to represent our school because they came in the top twenty in Ohaeawai.

“Breath in breath out I said to myself” nervous nervous nervous I was, my knees felt like jelly, my stomach was full of butterflies when the curtain pulled open. “Homai te paki paki for Tautoro school” said Whaea Chicky, everyone clapped, yelled, whistled and screamed. After a while I was in the zone, I wasn’t shy and everyone around me were singing loud and it sounded amazing.

“Kia Rere Tika ai” said Harmony and Gerry in a brave and strong voice, we all sang in a courageous way and followed Harmony’s and Gerry’s commands. We even had to lean forward and backwards well singing, swinging and hitting our poi. The hardest part was hitting our poi and catching it. It was tiring but fun at the same time. At the end everyone got a bit emotional because our amazing Kuia Nana Winnie gave us an amazing 'karanga' from the crowd that blew us all away and the humongous crowd as well.

I will always remember that day because it was awesome and it was like the fifth time I’ve performed on that stage since I have been here at Tautoro School.
Image result for tautoro school kapa haka 2016Our mauri and our mana were definitely on stage with us and our waka was filled with lots of pride.

This is my persuasive writing about having a footpath and changing the speed limit by Tehanah.

Wednesday 31st  August 2016.
Persuasive writing.

It is not fair that we do not have a footpath for the Tautoro School children well I think that we should have a footpath for children's safety. Wouldn’t that be tremendous especially if it is for the kids safety? I think we should put a footpath from Mrs Paraha’s to the Tautoro Dairy. And change the speed limit, Who's with me? That will be kind and respecting our Rangatira and their moko’s.

My first main reason why I think we should have a footpath is because what if there is a kid in the middle of the road just standing there, you know that there is no time to stop for them. Kids walk to school every morning on the side of the road even when it is foggy. Car crashes or hit and runs are waiting to come. Put this footpath here before someone’s waiting for the bus and cars can't see them and run them over.

My second reason why we should change the speed limit is because we're here we're not invisible.Come on the Council of Kaikohe let us have our victory at least put a pedestrian at the Tautoro dairy for people and children to cross in safety. Can we please have one or two on our road it would be helpful for our safety and it would be changing people’s lives. please say yes. If you prevent this from happening you will feel the madness of Tautoro school.

In summary I think that we should put a foot path from Mrs Paraha’s to the Tautoro dairy are you with me? Anyone who knows how to run a community will agree.

This is my first persuasive writing.

Lollies at school.
I think that we should be allowed to have lollies in our School. Lollies are sweet like honey and There is three reasons why we should be allowed to bring lollies.

Reason one, Imagine us dying on the inside can you imagine sucking on that sweet sweet lollipop MMMMMMMMMMMM!

Reason two, when I am in class I just want to have a lollie “Well if you know what I mean” do you know what I mean?

In Summary, I Think that we should be able to have lollies in our school. I think this because lollies are delicious and it isn’t fear that we aren’t allowed to bring lollies.

Come on people Please let Tautoro School be allowed to Have a lot of lollies.

My next learning steps are:
Be independent at structure
Use emotive words
Add more supporting detail

Last night I read Finding China. It was mostly about and eleven yr old girl and she went to a school in Shanghai, China, she got homesick and missed her mum and dad. She said that the Chinese work more than she was used to.

My favorite part was when a girl named Sophie asked if Natalie wanted to be Sophie’s friend.

Here is an interesting Book review that you would want to read.

This book is mostly about How the first world war change things for Maori. This week I have been reading Te Hokowhitu-a-Tu by Monty Soutar.
So it all started when not all Maori felt the same about the war. So some iwi, in places like Taranaki and Waikato, had a very different attitude towards the war. Fifty years earlier, the government had attacked their tupuna and took most of their land. These iwi were still deeply unhappy about what had happened. Generation had growing up seeing their land used by other people. This cartoon was published in a New Zealand newspaper in 1915 to
encourage Maori to sign up for war.

My favorite part was, I learnt that A  few maori had birth certificates, which meant that  they could lie about their ages to go to war. You had to been 18 but Maori lied about their ages and said they were 18.The interesting part for me was when the government attacked their tupuna and called them rebels.
Have you been reading?

Here's a book review that you would like read it and you'll get a fright.

My Recent Reading

This week I read Heart beat it is a non-fiction. The author of this book is Andre Ngapo. This book is about a family who is trying to stop the english from cutting down Tane Mahuta the tree and other tree’s. And he can also hear the heartbeat of Tane Mahuta.

My favorite part was when the moko’s mum made a sign that said “ Our forests are our future.” save the rakau. have you been reading?
Andre Ngapo.        Heartbeat the book.

Here is my week 7 recount.

It all started at lunch time It was as hot as lava. my dad was home we went to get me some lunch. I had a pie, a drink and a packet of lollies. Next Arama, Hohepa and Tylah just got back from The farm. Then Arama and I went down to our hut to have  lunch. We had chops and salad. It was delicious. Shortly after that Arama and I took our plates to the sink.

Not long after that Arama, Hohepa and I played basketball. I tried to run as fast as a lightning strike. I started to slow down but my mind kept on saying keep going you can do it, so I took a big breath and said to myself keep going. BAM slam dunk I scored my first point. My legs were shaking like jelly. I felt excitement starting to bubble up in my stomach. It felt tingly.   The next day my family and I went to the Otaua Rugby game, It was in Taheke.I couldn’t wait to get there.
First my family and I went to K.F.C for lunch. I had a Snack lunch. It was delicious. Then we went to get some gas. A little while later my family and I were at the Taheke School, I was so excited. Kerikeri and the tigers finished their rugby league game before we got there.  When I sat down on the grass I saw the Otaua team jog out of the Changing rooms. Then I saw Rangimarie, she suggested we should go and roll down the hill and we did. It was exciting. I was laughing so hard out that I got thirsty. I was huffing and puffing so I went to our van to get a drink.

There was bad news waiting for me. Otaua Lost I felt sad because they lost. because they are a great team and Tamati my cousin was in that team, plus John my brother in-law. When I walked back into the gate I saw the two boys and they asked me if I wanted to play tackles with them. I replied back, “of course.”
I had an awesome game of tackles. Then The two boys needed a ride back to Tautoro, because Aunty Tracey left them behind. So we went to ask my dad if they could catch a ride back to Tautoro.

My dad said yes. Next the two boys and I went to the netball courts to play on the rails. My story ends by going to Countdown to get some dominos.  The best part of my story was when I saw Rangimarie and we rolled down the hill.

Today in workshop we have discovered how to use cc-search and learnt how to find out the authors name that took the picture we want to reuse.

I was reading,

Last week I was reading Rascal and Little Flora.
Illustrated by bob Lea. Written by Paul Jennings.
Rascal liked little Flora. This is mostly about  Rascal trying to do anything to get little Flora’s attention. First Rascal put his face in the dinosaur bones, but Rascal didn’t get little Flora’s attention. The next day Sniff Rascal’s friend Love Flora to, He gave her some good rubbish.

My favorite part in the story was Win Rascal took the big bone from the dinosaur head. The piece that surprised me was Rascal got away with Taking the dinosaur bone and replacing it with A broom.

Here are my Learning Goals 2016.
