Book review

I have recently just finished a Book review on the book Diary Of A Wimpy Kid. I really enjoyed reading this book because is was mysterious and interesting. It took me a couple of weeks to complete the actual process of reading but in the end I really enjoyed the book and I will work towards completing more and more book reviews. Here is my book review!

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid
This term, I have been reading Diary Of
A Wimpy Kid. The main characters in this story are Greg Heffley, Rodrick Heffley,
Manny Heffley, Frank Heffley (Greg’s dad),
Susan Heffley (Greg’s dad), Fregley and
Rowley Jefferson. Greg is the main
character, this is his diary. He writes
about all the morons in his school, the
brain boxes, the girls in his school and also about his social and standard life. Greg is
always jealous of his little brother Manny
because their parents treat Manny like a
prince. There is a little secret about manny
to, he calls Greg bubba and Greg finds it
very embarrassing.

Everything that Greg does to anyone, it
always has funny consequences like the time
he told manny that a little black cotton ball
was a spider and Manny swallowed it. That
part was hilarious. Rowley and Greg are
always and forever getting up to mischief
and they are always getting grounded or
something. They try to think of themselves
as like secret spies and they creep around.

My favourite part about this story is when
Greg and his family go on their day away at
an amusement park and they don’t get to go into any activities because their tickets had
the wrong time posted on them…. That part
was priceless. I would recommend this book for all people young and old because I know
that if I enjoyed it you sure will. Thanks for
Reading my book Review!
I hope you Enjoyed.

Reading Theory

Reading Theory is a great learning site for reading books and answering quizzes. It is a great learning site to increase your levels of reading and also understanding questions. I have been working on Reading theory for a few weeks now and I enjoy using this site! Below are some interesting pictures of the learning site. I encourage you all to give this learning site a go!

P.E

Matt was sadly absent today, So I had to take upon the job of setting up P.E, choose a game and sort out equal teams. It was fun. Our team was up for batting first because the team captain won in rock, paper, scissors.
It was a great game because everyone was playing fair and also playing by the rules. And let me tell you, All a coach wants is for their team to listen and play by the rules. Here are some pictures of our great game.

Te reo

W.A.L.T: E ako ana matou ki nga akonga mo te Tauparapara. Last week on Friday I forgot to post this Te reo Maori presentation, So here it is. This presentation is about what my perspective is about a Tauparapara and we also had to research all types of different Tauparapara... I hope you enjoy this powerpoint.

Blog post comment

Today I have decided to post a comment on Vanya's blog from Paihia school. Here is my comment to her I hope yous enjoy! I decided to comment on her blog so that I could give her feedback for something that was just a tad bit incomplete. Enjoy!

Coding with grids

WALT: Create a basic grid using Scratch Jr.
SC: I will

  • Create arrows to be the game controllers
  • Add code to each arrow to make it move in each direction
  • Add and code a character
  • Take screenshots of each character code
  • Create a screencast of my finished product

Today whaea Tania visited us! Today we were coding mazes. The objective of this task was to make the cat get the the cake. I enjoyed this task because it was challenging to get the character's correct grid information but I completed it in the end and that was a great experience. Below are some pictures of the information you need to make your character move.To add to this, unfortunately my screencastify for scratch - Jr is not able to work at this moment. Due to this caution.... Enjoy the pictures😂

Maths

Kia Ora. I am quickly going to be able to post my maths photos up. I have taken a photo to show you how to solve some math problems. i am in the highest math group. Our math group is called porohita, and here are our math strategies that we had to solve in our group. We are individual workers in our group. If we need help we just have to ask our teacher. Here is my photo of my maths strategies.

Epro - 8

Today during Epro-8, Sheeandra, Kaya and I attempted to make a catapult. It was a difficult process because we were very low on time. We nearly finished the product but then the bell rang. I am pretty gutted that we didn't get to finish, but I am happy that we have got this far. It is a very sturdy object but yet it is incomplete. Here is a picture of our item:

Teachers support day!

Today is Teachers support day, Whaea Gaylene: our main teacher asked Sheeandra, Kohl-lee and I to write Matt, Whaea Chanella and Aunty Janet a thank you card for all that they have done for our school! I got chosen to make Matt's card... Matt is our P.E teacher. He's great! I enjoyed making Matt's card because I stated all the popular things that he said and I also wrote a few little letters dedicated to Matt. Here is a picture of the card that Room 1 & 2 made! I hope you enjoy!

P.E

Yesterday we had P.E with Matt. Matt is our Physical Education coach, He's a great coach. He's also very popular around Kaikohe and Tautoro because he is the coach for a lot of Rugby, League, Touch and many more teams. Yesterday, Matt took the year 7 & 8's for P.E.... We didn't get very long because we had another visitor. But we didn't mind because we would have rather went out with matt instead of staying inside. Yesterday we played long-ball it was a great game! I enjoyed the game most because our whole team worked together to get the other team out. We were in the most, but at the End of the game, They just got us out and the bell rang for lunch. Andy got us out on the last game but we didn't really take much notice of it because we had a bunch of fun!

Te reo maori Korero

Yesterday Marta, Sheeandra and I made a video of us talking to each other. We had to talk to each other without reading the script. We had to redo it a couple of times, but in the end we completed it. It took us about 8 minutes to complete. It is a very simple script. Here is the video.

Reading theory

Reading theory, is a new and improved reading site online. On reading theory, you read a text and then you have to answer questions. The questions at the start are easy, but once you get more into the quiz they get harder and harder. Here is a picture of the reading theory site.

Comment

Nyld Young Leaders

On tuesday, Kohl-lee, Kohatu, Kaya, Whaea Lucy and I travelled down to auckland with the Hokianga cluester. We had a great trip! The reason we went down to Auckland was because the yearly young leaders festival is down there. We had a great trip, We left Tautoro School at about nine and arrived in Whangarei for a lunch break at about ten. Whangarei was the destination that all the clusters met up, after that we all travelled to Auckland in like a convoy. Our van was in the front, Whaea louise was driving. Whaea Tammy was driving the pakaraka and Okaihau college van and Whaea Taina was driving the Whangarei grove primary school car. We had a few more stops before we got to Auckland. When we got to Auckland, it was about four-ish. We were staying at the Mangere Oak wood lodge. We all settled in and then we went shopping for our dinner and lunch supplies. We were a giant group for just going shopping I reckon. We had to get up at six in the morning so that we could have a hui in Whaea Colleen's Room at seven. After our hui, we got ready to leave to the Vodafone Center. That was were the Young leaders conference was held. We had an amazing day, even though it was six hours long. We even got the opportunity to witness Kings👑 perform. It was ecstatic, one of the songs that he sung for us was 6ix figures. At the end of the day, we got treated with K.F.C in Whangarei. It was a very educational and cheerful two days.  I hope you enjoy!
Here is a picture of us, the young leaders:

Dogs are the best pet!

This morning, our classroom had to write an introduction
about why dogs make the best pets. Here below is my
introduction about dogs... I hope you enjoy!

Dogs Make The Best Pet!

I agree and I know for a fact, that dogs make the best pet!
They are active, Caring and certainly a mans best friend.
They make great pets for all people, young and old! Most
dogs are loyal, overprotective and most of all, they stand
firmly to people trying to effect their owner. Dogs are
loving to most pets, likewise not cats. I wouldn’t know what they problem is between cats and dogs, but they are just
awful enemies. I think that dogs would be an amazing pet,
without doubt. Dogs could even make you get fit, protect
you from burglars and or they are just genuinely great pets
for children.

Young leaders programme

For the past few weeks (including the holidays) there has been a programme running called the Young Leaders programme. This programme is for many schools around Northland. Our school clusters are Tautoro School, Opononi Primary, Waima school, Pakaraka school, Kerikeri high school and Totara Grove school (Whangarei) Kohatu, Kaya, Kohl-lee and I are apart of this group, and we are heading to Auckland next Tuesday for the national Young Leaders course/programme. There are going to be a bunch of inspirational speeches given by many people. Trust me, there are going to be thousands of kids there. I am excited but at the same time nervous to be out in a giant crowd amongst a heck of a lot of people. I think that we are going to have a great time in Auckland. I will keep you guys updated!

Reflection

This week has been a mutual week. Not a lot has been going on, it was just like a normal week. Only we didn't know what our process of work was. We were all a bit confused at times. Whaea Mary and Whaea Gaylene have been working hard for us and we now have a stable timetable for each day/week. I have completed my recount for this week about my full on holidays. Whaea Mary said that a few parts of my story sound poetic. I took that as a compliment. I tried to make my recount as exciting as I could which was not easy! But I am finished and I am proud of my writing piece. For maths our Maths group (Porohita) have been working on rounding and compensating. It was very confusing at the start, but when we got used to the flow of the strategy, it became more easy. Te reo, for Te reo we have been going over our Nga Arapu chart. Aka the Maori Alphabet. I enjoyed Te reo because it was very chill and we were just starting to get the flow of our new timetable.

First Recount Of The Year!!

This week, was our first week of school and our task was to write a recount about our holidays that didn't include boring words. I think that I achieved that goal because Whaea Mary said that a few  parts of my story sounded poetic. Here below is a screencastify of me reading my recount and also my story..... I hope you enjoy!

Adrenaline Park
Fog was in the air, and the morning rays of sunshine were blocking
the beautiful views of the mountains beneath the fluffy white clouds.
Amira, Tanner, Mele and I were fired up and ready to have fun! We
were making our way to Adrenaline Park, because it was Amira’s 13th
birthday. It was our first time going to Adrenaline park so we were all
very excited. Adrenaline Park is located in Whangarei, a little while
after Hikurangi.

You wouldn’t expect such an amusing water park located in such a
deserted place, because on your way to Adrenaline Park, you would
find yourself coming across windy roads and a bunch of abandoned
houses. You wouldn’t believe it, but we had to park our car down a
giant hill and walk to the top to see the whole complex. When we
arrived at the top of the hill, Aunty Claire took care of all of the costs,
whilst Tanner, Amira, Mele and I were getting changed. We all stood
on the bank glancing at the shimmering dark lake with fog floating
right above.

Then all of a sudden, one of the workers interrupted us to tell us all
about the safety rules.  After that, we put our Life jackets on and
rushed to the lake. There were so many activities! There was an on
water obstacle course, a giant inflatable trampoline, Basketball activities,
water skiing, slides, a large 40 metre slide, trampolines, Volley-ball,
Kayaking, Paddle boarding and many more fun activities. We started off
with the Obstacle course, that was very very slippery! It was set out
like a giant square. There was slides, monkey bars, swinging ropes, giant
boxing bags and places that you could climb up to witness million dollar
views of all the many activities.

There was not many people, so the obstacle course was easier to
get through and you could complete the activities faster. There were
also many entries…. An entry at Adrenaline Park was a place to get
back on the course if you fell in the water. As the fog started to lift,
you could get the a full view of the lake glistering away. We all swam
back to shore to collect a kayak. I rowed through the fog, looked back
and realised that it made a cleared pathway as I went through. It looked
majestic. As Amira and Mele followed, we rowed all around the obstacle
course were we found ourselves observing the many fails of the people
having a go on the water skiing. It was hilarious!

We then spotted that there was no one using the basketball area,
so we utilized our time wisely and we nominated basketball to be our
next activity. There were two different coloured basketball and there
was a big wooden connect four activity set out. There were six hoops,
and the hoop that you got the ball in, was the place where you started
to try and get 4 in a row. The game was very interesting. After a while,
we discovered that basketball was getting pretty boring….

A moment later, we saw that Aunty Claire had showed up again,
but this time with lunch. It was K.F.C, even though I don’t like chicken,
I had chips and a drink. Right then, one of the workers came over and
asked us if we wanted to go on the 40 metre slide? We weren’t very
enthusiastic about it, but we agreed to give it a go! We were all anxiously
nervous! And our legs were shaking like jelly because the wind was
unbelievable. Tanner trepidatiously went first. Sike! He wanted to go
first and we were to scared to go first anyways. He said that it wasn’t
scary, so I went and I was terrified… I resisted to tell Amira and Mele
so that they could have found out for themselves. Amira went next,
she got to the corner and flipped off her board. It was crack up,
Aunty Claire even got it on tape. We had a few more turns and then
we headed back over to the main office to get changed, so that we
could go to the Pak n save and get some food for our way home. We
had a great day and night.
