Technology

Today the year eights went to Technology in Kaikohe at Kaikohe Intermediate. This was my second week back at technology and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. I came a bit late to school so I was partners with Hukarere. We both enjoyed our day cooking! There was one hiccup with the Kaikohe Intermediates school water system. This problem affected our Hot and Cold water. We all were kinda stuck in a big panic package, but then we filled up a couple pots to last us the rest of the day. I hope you enjoy!

Word of the day week 6 term 3

So we have this new thing that we do every morning before we get our day started. After our morning bell rings, we all make our way to class and work on our word of the day task. For this task, we have to find out what the word means, have a personal definition, Make our own sentences, include up to 3 synonyms and antonyms of that word and lastly find out what smaller words you can make out of that specific work. Here is my D.L.O down below: I hope you enjoy!

Analysing and comparing box plots

W.A.L.T: Analyse and compare box plots! I found this task very simple until I got to the next presentation, were we had to make our own plots according to the algorithmic pattern. It was quite challenging in the first two slides but once you get the hang of it you will also feel that the challenge is getting easier. In this task we had to: In this task we had to....Fill out the 5 key scores (Lowest, Lower Quartile, Median, Upper Quartile, Highest) Calculate the Range and Interquartile Range

Identify whether the box plot has a negative skew or a positive skew. In the second part of the presentation we had to identify which class did better according to the range and interquartile range, we also had to give 2 reasons why we thought that!

I hope you enjoy!

P.E

This week, Sheeandra Kohl-lee and I decided to clean the P.E Shed! Before we started, everything was out of place and most of the equipment was on the floor. You could barely even see the floor! Not gonna lie! During the process of this whole task, it was a bit rough arranging heavy equipment to the right places, etc. In the end, all three of us ended up in the news letter! We felt a big feeling of relief lift off of our shoulders. Not that we had to do it, we volunteered to do the job in favour of our hard working P.E teacher, coach and our executive sports manager..... Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed!

Writing

For our last writing test, we had to write a quick 7 minute piece that included facts and back up information. Our name of our writing was Narrative writing. That was our topic for last week. We have now moved on to Explanation writing. Anyways I have totally went off task so I hope you Enjoy!!

              Global Warming!

Global warming is a worldwide issue that
is rapidly increasing! This issue is caused by not
recycling and also  all the plastics that are
produced by supermarkets, dairies, package
warehouses and many more big companies that
are not reusing and recycling trash. This issue
needs to be solved before its too late!
By too late I mean, the world could possibly
end up underwater by the year 2060! There
are already icebergs melting over in Antarctica!
All because of our problems, our Marine life
have to pay for what we didn’t do. I find that
we are being selfish by putting our Marine life
in danger instead of bucking up our ideas and getting rid of this problem. Did you know that
we can solve this problem?  By simply
recycling or even just getting rid of all plastics
that are sold from big companies and
supermarkets. All this leads down to our air!
The Ozone layer is the big firm layer around
the earth that provides humans and all creatures with air. By us not recycling, all our household
waste goes to the landfill and gets burnt. The
smoke is not good for the environment and all this smoke somehow gets injected into the Ozone layer! We are not only putting our lives in danger, we are putting the whole world in danger!

Panui

Today for Panui, we read our book called Poaka Kunekune! This book was very simple and all the sentences were very simple. All we had to do was read the book and then translate it into English.... Our presentation had to also include facts about Pigs. I hope you enjoy!!

Te reo

W.A.L.T: E ako ana ahau ki te akohia Nga Tae. Me te korero Nga Tae.

For Te reo this week, we accomplished a task called Nga Tae! Our group was Sheeandra, Marta and I. We found this task very simple because all we had to do was find a Maori colours song and sing the song on screencastify..... We hope you enjoy!

For Te reo Maori, our group (Nga Whetu) read a book about Chickens but in Te reo. It wasn't really challenging to me! When it came to creating a D.L.O we all had to make a simple and short presentation about chickens. Not entirely about chickens but like facts and statements about chickens, hens and Roosters! I hope you enjoy!
