What a year! 2018

This year we have come across some obstacles and bumps! With this, We have gone to a lot of places with historical features and we have also had a lot of fun. At the start of the year, we had two tournaments and we got split up into two groups on every tournament. The two tournaments were called, Pakanga and Rippa rugby, When our tournaments were running, We trained everyday until we had our strategies and our plans assorted. Our plan for Rippa rugby was to have a full back incase the guard dogs missed the runner. The two full backs were me and Jonas. Our plan for Pakanga were also to have two full backs which were the same. We took turns staying, full back and we were switching during the game to be the runners and the rippers. Our trip to Rotorua was puzzled but once again, so fun because we visited a lot of fun places, like the luge, gondola, skylines, villages, markets and many more things.  My favourite thing In Rotorua was The luge and the gondola, also the skylines, I also like motion entertainment and the markets. I liked the the gondola because it was high in the air. I liked the luge because you could feel the adrenaline pumping all through your blood! My dislike about that day was the skyline because it took long as to get to the top.

Book review!

Whaea Tania visited us once again, But today we got to choose out of 4 items, what we wanted to do. I choose to do a Book review. My book review was based on Tom gates, Epic adventure nearly! I included a title, main characters, hobby's, facts, my favourite part and a question. Here is my work enjoy!

                               Image result for tom gates
      My book review!
               TITLE:
                Tom Gates
This year, I have read a book called Tom
Gates. The main character in this story
is called  Tom. Tom has a sister named
Delia. He finds Delia, Boring and
Grumpy! He has an interesting best
friend named Derek, Derek is also
Tom’s neighbor and he has a dog
named  Rooster that is very hyper
and excited! Tom and Derek have
a clever way of communicating when
their either grounded or their too lazy
to walk to each other, They communicate
by making signs and writing whatever
they need or want to say to each other.
Tom’s dad’s name is Frank, and his
mum’s name is Rita. One thing that
they enjoy being neighbors is because
they run a band  and they do band
practise in Tom’s garage.
Their band name is Dog Zombies!
Tom gets distracted easily, Tom also
likes doodling, Well in our words
drawing. Tom and his teacher,
Mr Fullerman, are always at each
other's throats, Well not exactly but
Mr Fullerman has to always snap Tom
out of his day dreams. There is a hall
Monitor named  Marcus Meldrew,
Who hates Tom and whatever he does,
He also calls Tom, Gatesy.

My favourite part about this book
is when Tom and his family went to a
kingdom to have a family day out and
their day turned to absolute bordism.
They brought tickets for basically
nothing because there was the exact
same guard at each and everyone of
the activities, and he made them buy
new tickets wherever they went and
when they did find a place that they
could enter, Tom and his mother got
lost in a maze and they rung the bell
so that someone could help them and
you wouldn’t guess who it was! The
same old body guard. The reason that
they weren’t allowed in the kingdom
activities was because they were
supposed to get there at 12.00pm
but they showed up at 1.15pm which
set them back in activities. Have
you been reading?

Explanation writing Intros....

We have been learning about EXPLANATION WRITING....Our task was to write an interesting title, introducing what our topic was and a few facts about our topic. My two topics were Hammers and peelers. Here is both of my introductions.... ENJOY!

                              Hammer!
Today I am talking about Hammers!
A hammer is a solid tool that is used to hit nails,
screws and all sorts of things in, and they are very useful
because they can help keep your drywall and walls up.
They can also help with keeping your structure strong.
Hammers are a big help when it comes to dealing with wood
and timber. How else is a hammer helpful?

                           Potato peelers!

A Potato peeler...Doesn't sound like much aye?
But when it comes to that cooking life, Potato peelers
are very useful to be peeling all sorts of things,
such as potatoes , carrots, Kumara, Apples, pears,
Oranges, cucumbers, Zucchini and a variety of many
more things. The sad thing about some potato peelers is
that some are very fragile. Can you think of a few
more reasons a potato peelers are helpful?

About my first week back at school.

Today was a bit Challenging in Te reo because we have a set task to do. We have to write a script in Te reo Maori.1 to start off with, our whole entire script has to be in Te reo and 2 We have to figure out whos doing what and how everything is going to work. The good thing about that is I love to make and edit videos so that wont be a problem.Today Miss Simeon like usual came in to teach us maths.Miss Simeon also tought us a new factions strategy. Our Walt was W.A.L.T: add fractions with like the denominator. Our success criteria was to, Firstly find the equivalent fraction,2 the denominator had to be the same as the other one in your equation,3 simplify your fraction into an improper fraction. At first I didn't really get it until Miss Simeon gave an example.Today we have Cross country training I am excited to run the track but hopefully there isn't any massive puddles.

Walk the talk!

Last week Thursday we had our speech competitions, so we were working very hard to complete our speeches.Quite a few of us didn't get to complete their speech so there was only a few competitors.Lucky for us we were able to choose if we wanted to compete in the classroom speech competitions. To make it into the school speech competition all the class contestants had to Utilise their stage space and we had to use hand gestures. I just made it into the school speech competitions and I came third.Sadly only the first place contestant was allowed to go to the rotary.

Speech draft

This week was very nervracking because this week was speech week.
Here is my speech draft.

Hi Everyone My name is Tehanah and I have chosen to speak about having a
community footpath.
I Strongly suggest that Tautoro should Have a footpath from the Falls to Honey
tree farms, so the people of Tautoro can safely walk to the Falls and we are separated
from General traffic.

My main reason why I think there should be a footpath from the falls to Honey tree
farms is because it could save lives. It is sad to think that innocent people have been
run over by vehicles and those driving have carried on without a thought.

If we don’t fix that problem instantly, that could happen to one of us! I think we need
a footpath urgently to prevent this from happening to anyone.

.Another reason why I think our community should have a footpath is because it
provides a safe place for us to walk. As you know that there are alot of children in
Tautoro that walk on our road. I think if our community worked together we would
be able to install a safe footpath for not just families in Tautoro but for all who visit.

In addition to this I think there should be a footpath from Honey tree farms to the
Falls because it would be somewhere people could exercise, and just somewhere
positive to be.

Have you ever walked to the falls? I have and it is really dangerous because all
there is on the road is the drains and gravel. There isn’t even much space provided
to walk on the sidelines. We are sick of walking to the falls in the ditch! Thats why
we need a footpath!

Having a safe footpath would also be a big help for my papa as well, you know why?
Because my papa walks on our main road every morning and sometimes in the
evenings and a footpath would be tremendous for my papa and our whanau

.I guess your thinking, Why do you even bother? Well I am writing about this so
my family and our community can be safe whilst hopefully walking on a brand
new footpath.

In summary I think our Community should have a footpath from Honey tree farms
to the Falls! The reason we need a footpath is because footpaths play a vital role
within communities and we are one of the many communities that need a footpath!
We need a footpath urgently! Anyone who knows how to run a community would
agree.Thank you for listening to my speech.

Hour of code

We have been learning how to code. Our coding game that we played was Minecraft.
I enjoyed completing all of the tasks because every time I completed a level it was like I was getting closer to the finish line.It was challenging when I didn't read the instructions and I didn't know what to do but just my luck Lloyd was sitting next to me which was a relief. It took me 45 minutes to complete my hour of code tasks.I helped others by helping them complete tasks that they were stuck on.I needed help with level 10.Here are my screenshots of my Hour of code.

Lazahris's 4th Birthday

In the holidays, I travelled to Auckland with my family to celebrate
my nephew’s 4th birthday. The night before his birthday my sister
prepared his cake, the birthday cake was Spider Man themed.
When the morning sunshine hit at 6.00 clock sharp, Lazahris,
his parents and I awoke and we got ready to set off to the dawn
Parade. It was freezing outside! When we got home,Well by that
time everyone finally Arose. Lazahris set off on a little treasure
hunt to find his presents. His first present was a pack of beyblades
and a beyblade arena. After he found all of his presents he ran off
for a shower and started to play with his new toys.Minutes later
Delynah said “Collect up all the food and your stuff and hop in
the car” So Lazahris hoped in the car and I buckled up Elijah.
Later Delynah and I plus Elijah hoped in the car and zoomed
off to Gravity.

When we arrived at Gravity Lazahris and I quickly hopped
out of the car and raced to the doors. We finally made it and most
of Lazahris’s friends were already there so Delynah hurried to the
counter and paid for Lazahris and I. When Lazahris and
I got to the tramps he was so pumped that he rushed onto the
tramps and tumbled straight away because of how bouncey they
were. After awhile of jumping I could start to feel the adrenaline
pumping through my blood.

Next me and Kaya went with a bunch of girls to play dodgeball.
There was a big as area just for dodgeball and it was surrounded
with blue netting.Gravity was Extreme. Then the game finally
started and we started shooting the other girls. But lucky for us we
had soft balls to shoot with.Later on that day we went to the park
for lunch. We had Pizza,Hot chips,Cocktails,sausage rolls,Brownie
and loads of finger food. The food was devine.Next Karlin and
I went to feed the ducks.Out popped an ugly Catfish and a big
bunch of eels, So we bolted off to grab some bread.Bloop,Bloop,
Bloop was all we could hear because the eels and the catfish were
gobbling up the bread. After Karlin and I were finished feeding the
ducks we headed back up by the picnic.

Week 4 Technology

In Week 4 we made Chutney. Here is my presentation about week 4's Technology task.

Whakapounamu kai/Technology Reflection!

The first week we went to Technology we had a blast! But on the first week we had a little bit of a rocky start which was ok but it was only because we didn't really know where all the equipment was until Whaea Ursula told us.As the weeks passed we finally got into the routine of Knowing where everything was,Following instructions and keeping our stations tidy.

Disgusting mud walk

What is better than going for a walk on the farm? Nothing! On a hot sunny afternoon Amaru,Ringakaha,Hikurangi, Amira and I went for a afternoon walk on the farm. At first we were looking for Tuna but that got boring so we went for a walk to the big disgusting swamp. It was very disgusting because it smelt rotten and it was like mud and poo put in water.

The first thing I heard was Amira shouting”Help!, Help!” I tried and tried to pull her out but she got stuck in the quicksand. In a split second I looked at her and she began to sink. The next thing I knew, Hikurangi started to sink as well. When they finally set free we tried to find a easier way to the big swamp. So we had to walk anxiously right around.

When we finally reached the fence we saw Maui just staring at us. Amira called out” What are you doing Maui you creep”? He was just standing there like a headless chicken. We walked over to him and asked him if he wanted to come for a swim, He happily replied “YUP!” so one by one we all jumped the fence. By then My shoes and socks were saturated. So I tried to hurry them all up. But they were taking their time so Amira and I began to walk home quickly because it was getting dark.

Lazahris's 4th Birthday at Gravity

W.A.L.T structure a recount.

What is the difference between a Whakatauki and a whakatauaki? DO you know?

We have been learning about the difference between a Whakatauki and a Whakatauaki.

Ki O Rahi

W.A.L.T structure a recount
We recently had a tournament for Ki o Rahi and when
we got back to school we had to write a recount about
Ki O Rahi.

On a muggy Friday morning, as we set up the Tautoro
gazebo I gazed at the the Ki o Rahi fields and said to
myself “ I can’t wait to play.” Finally all the schools showed up.
Minutes later we went to the main gazebo to find out what field
we were playing on. On our first game we versed Omania.
We won and the score was 36 - 6 to us. I was so nervous
because that was our first game.

The next team we versed was the Christian School.
The score was 56 - 14 to us.But we were doing quick
points and one of the Christian school’s teachers must
have got jealous that we were winning so she went and
told Whaea Leila. When she returned Whaea Leila
confirmed that we were no longer aloud to do quick points.
Anyways by the time we versed the christian school we were
all warmed up and ready to win, But most of all to have Fun.

After a few more games of Ki O Rahi we had a break.
So we all walked to the gazebo to have a snack.
About five minutes later we went back to the field to have
another game against Te Kura Kaupapa O Kaikohe.
When the Mc Blew the horn we started. Everyone was
guarded by one of the students from the Kura.
The kura Didn’t take their eyes off our team and our
team was letting it get to them. So when it was half
time matt taught us a strategy, The strategy was to
just let them stand by you and when the ball went to my
middle you ran away because if you were running while the
ball was out of the middle you would have gotten tired.
What do you know, the strategy worked and they slowly
began to leave us alone. But in the end we lost, but we all
still had fun, They won by four points.
The score was 29 - 25.

The Next game we played we versed the Intermediate school.
They were totally cheating by defending.
They were smacking our hands away when they were
scoring tries. But we still smoked them in the end.

In Conclusion I think we all had fun and we were
all competitive which was our main goal.
I can’t wait for our next tournament.
I was so proud of our team even though
we didn’t compete in the finals.
I was also proud of our team because we all
participated and we weren’t looking like a bunch
of stun mullets.
