Technology

Last Friday, The year eights went to Technology in Kaikohe at the Kaikohe Intermediate. Last week was our last week sadly! On Friday my partner and I (Zephaniah) made an apple cake. We were unable to make a powerpoint because the wifi was cut out at the Kaikohe Intermediate. There was no wifi for the whole day. It didn't really bother us because it was fun to make an Apple Cake for the first time. We also had to create something out of mince, bacon, cheese, bread, bread rolls, chutney and many more things. Zephaniah and I started off by making our Apple Cake because that was going to be our dish that was yet hot cut cooled down. When we finished cooking our cake and we done all of our dishes, we got onto making our next dish which included Mince, cheesy bread rolls, bacon and Tomato Sauce. They tasted delicious. The Bacon was crunchy and the cheese on top of the bread rolls tasted marvellous. After Zephaniah, Hanah,Ngaro and I cleaned our table and our dishes, we all made our way outside onto the asphalt aka terf to play handball. They we spotted everyone storming over towards us like a herd of Elephants to play. At the end of the day we had a lot of fun and we ended it off with a large game of handball.

Spelling results week 11♥

Today I had a Spelling test from last weeks words because we got the wrong words last week and we had to get tested for spelling this morning and we didn't even get to practise our words. Either way I knew that I wasn't going to get 100% but I tried my best and the words that I didn't know how to spell, I just guest how to spell them and It was a great outcome because I got 17 out of 20. Even though I didn't get 20 out of 20, I got 17 and I was happy because I didn't have to go onto the white-table and practise my words. Our lowest limit for incorrect spelling words is 5. So if you get lower than 15 out of 20 then you get sent to the White-table and you have to practise all of your spelling words that you got wrong over and over again. This sounds pretty boring right? That is why I practise my words every night so that I get more than 15 out of 20. Thanks for listening to my explanation about our spelling.

Weekly comment

Here is my comment on Zephaniah's blog. Every week or day we have to comment on someone's blog and post it on our blog for evidence. I guess our teachers chose for us to do this because they want us to improve in our commenting on blogs... I hope you enjoy.

Young leaders

Last wednesday, Whaea Lucy pulled Kohl-lee, kaya, Kohatu and I out of maths for our young leaders conference that was held in Kaikohe at the Ngapuhi social services, opposite the New World. From my perspective, it was a wonderful day. At first we were all absolutely shy but when the day started to past by we got used to everyone's company. We started off with a Karakia and himene, next we all introduced ourselves. By this time, Okaihau started their ice breaker. Okaihau's ice-breaker was a game where you had to introduce yourself and explain to the group, something you like to eat starting with the first letter of your name. It was a nervracking game, although we did in fact become a bit less shy. We all had a turn at doing ice-breakers as well. Our ice-breaker was colour and Rawene Ice-breaker was a game were you had to get into groups of six and you had to grab someone else's hand so that your team became tangled. It was a very hard task. Our group lost but it was great fun. Soon later, we had lunch it was great. We had pizza, cakes, brownies, chips, fruit, biscuits, savoury pies, buns and many yummy refreshments. We had a great time at lunch because the room wasn't even nearly silent. It was full with excitement and laughter. After lunch, we all returned back into the room with full tummies. At that time, it was Whangarei's turn to introduce their ice-breaker. Their ice-breaker was musical chairs. It was tough, Kohl-lee,Kohatu and I were the last 3 but then all of a sudden, Kohl-lee and I got Kohatu out. Kohl-lee and I were the last two competitors. I think we drawed and both won, I can't exactly remember because I was so dizzy. Thanks for reading!!

Equivalent fractions

W.A.L.T: Understand Equivalent fractions.
Porohita (our maths group) were working on how to understand Equivalent fractions.Sadly I got pulled out to go to the young leaders conference in Kaikohe at the Ngapuhi Social services. I got a little bunch of maths though and here it is below. We were working with timesing the equation to get an answer.

Ki O Rahi

This is my Recount writing about our Ki O rahi
Tournament. I was very proud of both of our teams
that day.

Ki O Rahi

Go, GO! Pass the ball! was all we heard from the
sideline. Teams were very competitive and ready to
play. You probably don't know what I'm talking about.
On a muggy Friday morning I got all the Ki O Rahi
equipment ready for our tournament that started at
10.30am.
Before we left for our tournament, we completed a
few passing drills here at the school. A little while
later, we all piled into the cars that were transporting
us. Soon later we arrived at Lindvart Park.

When we arrived at Lindvart park, we transferred all
our things onto the grass such as fruit, uniforms,
bags and Ki O rahi equipment. Next, we played some
warming up drills such as Ripping tags, Tigers and
Zebraƛ, Passing drills, Naughts and Crosses and
running drills. After we finished warming up, we
all were due to go to the main tent to listen to the
rules. We were also introduced to our referees. That
took a little while so we started our games a little late.

In our first game, we competed against Waima school.
Before we started our first game, we sorted our
game plan out so that everyone got a turn on the
field. I don't think that they had enough year Seven
and Eight players because they had like seven and
eight year olds. Our whole team had the game down
packed because we all worked together and the end
result was that we won by miles. I think they done
a good job with their defending the Tipu but we were
ecstatic. Our whole team probably scored an amazing
amount of tries, which made me feel cheerful.
Kohatu and Sheeandra done a spectacular job
protecting the Tipu when we were on Ki Oma.
I didn't really sub them off because one, they
were both fast movers and their strategy was that
Sheeandra was protecting the Tipu while Mutton was
getting in the Taniwha´s grills.

On our next game, We were versing Kaikohe Christian
School. They were very Competitive because they
had a fast little boy named Caiden. He was fast and
had his stepping on lock. He was probably the only one
that got tries in his team, He was also marking me
most of the time. Our team strived to the end and
won again, the score was like 9 - 18 to us. I was
happy because Whaea Gaylene told us that we lost,
as a joke but then Journey: Our ref assured us that
we won which was a great big bonus. When we
finished our game against the Kaikohe Christian
School, there coach literally came up to me and
he specifically said that I was very good at Ki O Rahi,
he also said that he wondered why I didn't get
subbed off and he also replied to his own statement
and said that I was to good. Whaea Gaylene was
happy with me and our whole team also. I was proud
of our whole team because we done a great job with
working together and we also stuck to our game plan,
so every single person in our team got a turn on the
field.

We had a quick break before we started our next
game against Opononi. Opononi were climbing the
trees waiting anxiously for their game to start
because it was against us. Their first game was
against us. Little did they know that we had been
training for weeks. They didn't know any of our
plans because they were to busy climbing trees
and not noticing that we were on the field right
next to them. From my prospective I would have
been watching like a hawk stealing all their game
plans, to be honest. The whistle blew, and the game
started within seconds. We started off at Ki Oma.
We were bomb at Ki Oma and just like that, we were
scoring points from the pou with ease. It just seemed
like a few minutes later because it was already time
to switch over to taniwha. We done our best and done
a great job at being on taniwha because we
accumulated points like nothing. I enjoyed our game
against Opononi school because we smoked them, but
yet they still tried their hardest.

Our next game was against Paihia. This was the
first time that they competed in a big yearly
tournament because they have never entered into
any other tournaments. We had a pretty good game
against them. Our score was 44-2 to us. I guess they
tried their best to win but sadly they did not. At
least they touched two pou and got a try. Our team
was stoked with our outcome… Due to this, we made
it into the finals.

In the finals we were obviously versing Matauri Bay.
We tried and tried, we scored a few tries but they
overpowered us and won… Again. They have taken the
tournament out every year, but as the coach, I was
just proud of our teams that both of us made it into
the finals. At the End of the day, we didn’t exactly
win but we all participated and we strived as far as
we could and came second.

“Wow, this place looks amazing!” It is very quiet and the weather here looks Great. “I wonder what it would look like up there?” (He stares at the many mountains). “I bet there is many great views from up there”. I just love to ride bikes! (as he gets to the river crossing) “I can do this with ease👍” Wow,! Who knew that mother nature could produce such a beautiful thing like this? Up here the clouds flow just above my head, the views are priceless, there are many little self made rock pools and the best part is that I get to ride down! “As I make it down the first mountain, I just knew that I could conquer the higher mountain point.. As you would know, I did and I am so very proud of myself. The next time I go biking, I am going to remind myself that I can do it, just like today. My new saying to keep me motivated it I can do it, Just keep going! This is just perfect and relaxing, to row across the calm rippling water beneath me. What makes it more mesmerising is the fact that the sun is just about to set at the cloak of the horizon and the bike ride sure did tier me out.

Ko Te Kupu Ahau

I have completed a Te reo task that introduced ourselves and said were we come from. We basically started from the beginning as in when we started tautoro school.Sheeandra and I have created different powerpoints. In the powerpoints, it has explained all the things that we have learnt today. Here below is the powerpoint that I created and also the screencastify recording.I hope you enjoy!
